Dear Parents,
Hope you and all belonging to you are safe and well. Please see the following updates.
Halloween Raffle:
The Parents’ Association will be holding a raffle on 22nd Oct. (similar to the one before the Summer Holidays) where there will be a prize for each classroom. Tickets will cost €1 per strip, 3 strips for €5. We greatly appreciate your support, as always. If children would like to buy raffle tickets, they can be bought on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays please (as Elle is here those days).
Halloween Dress-Up:
On Friday 22nd October, we will have the annual Halloween Dress Up Day. Children who wish to dress up should come to school in their costumes and can remain in them for the school day. Children who participate in the Dress Up Day are asked to make a €2 contribution, which will be divided between The Mercy Hospital Paediatric Oncology Outreach Nursing Service (which allows children who are suffering from cancer to be treated in their own homes) and for RADLD (Raising Awareness of Developmental Language Disorder).
In order to encourage children to create their own costumes (and prevent any extra costs to parents), children with homemade costumes will be entered into a classroom draw for a prize.
Covid-19 – Contact Tracing for Schools:
As you may be aware, contact tracing is no longer routinely undertaken in Primary School settings. For more information please see leaflet at the following link 199831_8d6d76cb-73c1-4f90-8e3a-f88c39a57ee6 (2)
Pupil Personal Accident Insurance:
The annual Pupil Personal Accident Insurance has been purchased for ALL pupils. This is a benefits policy and covers medical and dental expenses following an accident. It is 24 Hour Cover and applies to social, domestic and leisure, 24/7, 365 days a year. Expenses from hospital visits, GP visits, dental visit as well as physiotherapy (all resulting from an accident) can be claimed for.
Should your child have an accident that incurs medical expenses, please contact the school and we can give you the relevant information to proceed with a claim (the parent/guardian completes the claim form. The parent/guardian and the School Principal then sign the claim form. Finally, the claim form is sent to Allianz, along with relevant receipts).
I would encourage all families to avail of this insurance when the situation arises.
First Communion DVD (by Dan Harmon):
The DVD from the First Communion is available to order (on or before Oct. 22nd) from the school for €15.
Christmas Cards (Design – a – Card):
In the coming weeks, each child will be given an opportunity to design his/her own individual Christmas card. The Christmas cards will be sent to the publishing company on Oct. 22nd. These cards will be printed professionally and a sample will be sent home after the midterm break. You will then have the option to purchase packs of these cards, gift tags etc., if you wish to do so. There is no obligation to buy the Christmas cards. Every child will get to keep the sample of the card.
Voluntary Contribution:
For the past number of years parents have been asked to make a voluntary contribution to school funds and this money has been used to purchase school equipment and requisites and to pay expenses such as heating oil.
€60 per family per year has been the recommended contribution and has been collected in installments of €20 per term or alternatively in a single payment of €60. Parents have been more than generous and this generosity is greatly appreciated.
We are acutely aware of the continuous demands on parents and want to stress that this contribution is completely voluntary.
If you wish to contribute, you are asked to send the money into the school in a sealed envelope with your name and ‘Voluntary Contribution’ on the envelope. A receipt will be issued for any contributions made.
Thanking you,
Ailín Fitzgerald.
