Parents,
we will hold an Open Night for new families on Wednesday 5th March from 7pm – 8pm. We hope to welcome new families, who have children due to start school in the next few years to the school. It will give families an opportunity to meet the staff, see the facilities and ask any questions they may have. If any children in 5th/6th class are available, we would love their assistance in occupying the small children (eg. colouring, playing with toys etc.) giving new parents an opportunity to have a chat and have some refreshments.
Also, we are now accepting enrolments for the school year 25/26. Parents/Guardians who wish to enrol their child/children in Lismire NS are asked to email the school at secretary@lismirens.com (or phone school office on 029-60531) to request an Application form for Enrolment. Closing date for enrollment is 25th April.
Fund Raiser : We will hold a fundraiser for the Gannon family, who we were delighted to have in our school. However, their circumstances changed significantly and they moved to Dublin last October, following the challenges their family faced since their youngest son, Rí, who was born in October 2023, with a rare genetic condition called Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) Type 1. Without treatment, children with SMA1 rarely survive beyond their second birthday. Rí’s journey has been incredibly complex, and he faces significant medical challenges every day. While their move to Dublin, to be nearer the hospital has proven to be very successful, Rí is very fragile, and most days, it’s difficult to even bring him downstairs leaving him separated from family life. Charlotte and Elliot aim is to transform their new home ( build a fully accessible downstairs bedroom and other necessary adaptations) creating a space that fully supports Rí’s needs and allows him to be an active part of family daily life, ensuring precious moments and memories together. On March 14th, we will hold a coffee morning for the school community, wider community, grandparents, relatives and friends, from 12.30pm to 2pm. We would be very grateful if parents could do some baking that we could serve on the day. A donation box will be available should anyone wish to make a donation to this very worthy cause.
Lou, Cohen (our past pupil), Charlotte, Elliot and baby Rí on Rí’s first birthday.
Re-turn bottles: This scheme is proving to be very successful with €425 euro raised so far! Thanks to all who have been donating their bottles and cans into the yellow bins outside the school and at Caseys shop at Johnsbridge. A big thanks to Marguerite Reynolds and Eleanor Llerena who are kindly bringing the cans/bottles to the re return machines. We are very grateful for them for giving so generously of their time, as there is a lot of work involved.
Clothes Collection: Considering mid-term is next week, any families who may be doing a clear out can drop bags of old clothes etc. into the school lobby between 9.10am and 3pm for the 2 weeks after midterm. Thanks to all for supporting this fundraiser.
