Dear Parents,

A big congratulations to all the children who received their First Holy Communion last Saturday in Lismire Church. A big thanks to all who participated in the Ceremony (readings, prayers, altar serving etc.) and also to the children who played tin whistle/sang in the choir. We are very grateful for the wonderful contribution the choir made and are thankful to the parents who brought children along on the day. It is very much appreciated.

As we approach the Summer months and (hopefully!) warmer sunnier days, please apply sunscreen to your child before school should you deem it necessary.

  • School Tours  All classes will travel by bus on their school tours on Tuesday 20th June. Juniors, Seniors and First will go to Fota Wildlife Park and 2nd to 6th will go to Cork Inflata and Ninja Park. More information to follow nearer to the time.
  • End of Year School Reports : If you would like your report posted, please send in a stamped addressed envelop before 15th June. Otherwise, your child’s report will go home in a sealed envelop with your child on Friday 16th June. Please make an appointment as soon as possible with your child’s teacher should you wish to discuss the report.
  • Free Primary School Books Scheme:  This is very welcome news for parents all over the country. All textbooks, workbooks and copybooks will be free for parents. Please see information note for parents at the following link: https://www.gov.ie/pdf/?file=https://assets.gov.ie/250686/b1aa4f60-a8d7-4a8c-8257-6f585bb87a10.pdf#page=null  Please note that the book rental scheme, which has run in Lismire school for decades has always included textbooks and workbooks as well as a number of other costs –  photocopying, art supplies,  text-a-parent and other miscellaneous items that arise during the school year. There will still be a fee for these items however, we anticipate it will be between €20 and €25. We will know for definite in a few weeks.

  • Drama workshop with Comedian and qualified primary school teacher Bernard Casey: Bernard Casey will facilitate a drama workshop in each of the three classes on June 8th. He focuses on team building, self-confidence, decision-making, creativity and communication. We hope this will be an enjoyable experience for the children. We ask that each child contribute €5 towards the cost of the workshop – the school will cover the remaining cost.
