‘Cherryblossoms Lismire’ – Pre-School There is an onsite Pre-School, Before-School and After-School service available in the School building. This is great service for any parents wishing to avail of it. School Uniform
- Royal blue jumper or cardigan, light blue shirt/t-shirt, grey school pants/pinafore or skirt
- Shoes or runners which have good grips and are suitable for running in the yard
- All children will need to bring a coat and hat/cap to school during the winter months/cold/wet weather
Starting & Finishing Times
School Starting Time is 9.20 am. The school will be open at 9.10 am. School finishes at 2pm for Junior & Senior Infants and 3pm for all other classes.
Optional Lunch Delivery Service
The school has a Healthy Eating Policy. ‘The Lunch Bag’ Service is also available. This is an optional, cost effective, school lunch delivery service, which offers a wide variety of foods each day, which can be easily ordered through an App. Please see https://www.thelunchbag.ie/ for more details.
School Books etc.
The school has a book rental scheme Book Rental Scheme in place since the 1980’s.
Every September, the parents are asked to pay a fee (generally around €80) for the use of school books, which significantly reduces the back to school cost and stress for parents.
Please note that, the Pupil Personal Accident Scheme is included in this fee. There will be 24-hour cover for all children. All the text books and novels the children child need are provided under the School Book Rental Scheme.
Facilities
The school has very spacious facilities, enjoying ensuite classrooms, a general purpose room/school hall, a playing pitch, 3 large tarmac yards and a grass area where the children play rounders, basketball, soccer, skipping and playground games during their lunch breaks.
GAA
GAA is enjoyed by all the girls and boys in Lismire N.S. The children enter the Duhallow Rural Schools Hurling and Football Competitions and have been very successful in the past, regularly bringing home silverware. The school blitzes are thoroughly enjoyed by all involved.
Christmas Concert
All the children participate in a school concert during their time at Lismire N.S. The concert is held in the Lismire Hall, where the children get the opportunity to entertain the locals in a real life stage performance. The younger children entertain the audience with songs, poems and dances, concluding with the much anticipated School Drama. Another great event in the school calendar.
School Bus Service
There is a School Bus Service operating from the Tourard direction, passing by Johnsbridge. Please contact the school if you have any queries.
Technology
Each classroom is equipped with a high tech Interactive Panel, which greatly enhances the children’s learning experiences. We also have a number of Chrome books, which are used to complete games and activities, and engage in online learning.
Sacraments
The children in First and Second Class receive their First Penance and First Holy Communion in St. Joseph’s Church, Lismire. The children in 5th & 6th class receive the sacrament of Confirmation in Kanturk Church.
